Due to overwhelming parent and employee feedback, FCPS Superintendent Jack Dale has revised his recommendation to the School Board to make up four instructional days that have been lost due to inclement weather. He is recommending that FCPS follow the original 2009-10 calendar, which includes Monday, April 12, and June 23, 24, and 25 to make up the four-day deficit, and use June 28, 29, and 30 as subsequent makeup days, if needed.
Dale is also recommending that the School Board allow him to seek a waiver from the Virginia Board of Education for the last three days in June, plus any future days that may be lost due to inclement weather. The School Board will make a final decision on the makeup plan at its regular business meeting on March 4.
Every 10 years, the government reports the number of people who live in the United States by conducting a count called the census. This count is required by the U.S. Constitution.
Why is the U.S. census count necessary?
Census data are used to determine the number of representatives your state receives in the U.S. Congress, as well as your county’s representation in the state legislature. Government agencies use the data to make funding decisions for more than $300 billion each year, including:
February 12th – Auction Night (6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)
March 13th – Volleyball Game against Laurel Hill (4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
April – Yard Sale/Picnic Tables
April 30th – Dance Night (6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)
June 3rd – Picnic on the Playground
June 7th – 11th – PTA Book Fair
